About the Division

In 2018, the Barrow County Fire Department and Barrow County Board of Commissioners established the Barrow County Fire Marshal's Office in order to meet the needs of a rapidly growing community. In its early days, the Barrow County Fire Marshal's Office focused solely on new construction within Barrow County.

Since then, the department has grown and expanded, now tasked with the following duties:

• New construction inspections
• Annual life safety inspections on existing businesses
• Plan review
• Public education (fire safety, CPR and first aid, AED training, "Stop the Bleed" training)
• Community risk reduction
• Permitting processes
• Fire investigations
• Inspection complaints
• Illegal burn complaints

The Barrow County Fire Marshal's Office provides a multitude of services to the community. Each member of its ranks takes tremendous pride in serving the community in all aspects of emergency services. It is the primary focus of the Fire Marshal's Office to ensure everyone in the community has access to the safest living and working environments.
