Changes in Accepted Payments

Effective immediately, the Barrow County Utilities Department will no longer accept payment amounts that are higher than the amount due on the customer utility bill.  Customers may only submit the exact amount shown on the bill and/or balance due at time of payment.

Listed below are two automatic payment options available for use to make sure payments are made in a timely manner.

Utilize our online payment portal to pay by a credit or debit card. 

Here, you have the option to set credit or debit cards on an automatic payment schedule.  We also offer ACH Bank Draft where we will draft your payment directly from your checking account on the due date each month.  These options are in addition to our walk-in and over the phone payments.

About the Department

The Barrow County Wastewater Department serves about 2,755 customers in unincorporated Barrow County, the City of Auburn, the City of Statham, and parts of the City of Winder.

The Department operates two Water Reclamation Facilities, one at Tanners Bridge Road and the second at Barber Creek Road. Both Wastewater Treatment Facilities are permitted to process 500,000 gallons per day of wastewater.

The Barber Creek facility has expansion capabilities of up to 1.5 million gallons per day. The Tanners Bridge Road Facility is currently being expanded to an additional 1.0 million gallons per day of capacity.

The Wastewater Department infrastructure includes 13 pump stations, 21 miles of force main, 54 miles of gravity sewer lines, and 1,836 linear feet of reuse lines, and has a 1 MGD pre-purchased capacity agreement with the City of Winder in their Cedar Creek water reclamation facility.
