Mike Renshaw, County Manager
Mike has served in local government leadership and management positions for over 23 years, including eight years as a municipal police officer and detective with the City of Glendale, Arizona Police Department and as the director of code enforcement for the City of Mesa, Arizona and City of Atlanta, Georgia. In 2010 he was hired as the city manager for the City of Grantville, Georgia and from 2011-2016 served as the county manager in Camden County, North Carolina. He assumed the duties and responsibilities as Barrow County manager on May 2, 2016.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy and Persian Gulf War (1986-1992), Mike returned to school and completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice (’97) and Master of Public Administration (’01) at Arizona State University. He is a member of the International City/County Managers Association and Georgia City/County Managers Association.
Mike and his wife Judy are the proud parents of five children and two grandchildren, and purchased a home in beautiful Barrow County upon accepting the position as county manager in May 2016. They are active members of 12 Stone Church.
In addition to his regular day-to-day managerial responsibilities, Mike serves on the following committees:
- Upper Oconee Basin Water Authority, Joint Operations & Engineering Committee
- Barrow County Local Emergency Planning Committee
